Some more fabulous times for our club over the last month starting some here’s a round up of the recent events
STEBBING
This years Stebbing memorial 10 mile race finally took place in the pretty village of Stebbing not far from Dunmow in Essex and was very well organised and supported with no less than three car parks set up for the event with a lovely tribute to those who have died in past conflicts this taking place before the start of the race. The course is a fast one which in general is fairly flat so if you have put in the training a good time can be achieved here with and excellent poppy medal for all finishers, 7 CPJ’s took to the beautiful country lanes with 491 runners taking part we also had some lovely support from Martin’s family together with Debbie Dunn and Sarah Hemsworth which always makes a difference , Scott Cousins won the race in 51:12 and the CPJ results were as follows:
Adam Hemsworth 1:02 23rd
Richard Bonham 1:05:52 54th
Kieran Neary 1:11:06 90th
Colin Dunn 1:13:26 115th
Adam Poulton 1:13:31 116th
Martin England 1:28:10 272nd
Carol Wraight 1:34:06 340th
BILLERICAY 10k
It was good to see this years Billericay 10k back on with 609 runners taking part in this popular event unfortunately Albert Miles had to drop out due to a hamstring problem early in the race so that was very disappointing for him as he is one of our finest veteran runners but 5 Castle Point Joggers finished the race with
Richard Bonham being the first in 38:54 Colin Dunn followed in 43:24 Martin England finished in 51.08 with Beverley Newman in at 1:12:10
MAVERICK ARUK 17k
Nick Gianotti took part in the Maverick ARUK Original Suffolk 17k this race boasts
that it is perfect for first-time trail runners, a brand new event where participants race through unspoilt and largely un-ventured landscapes. Flora and fauna accompany you through the 3 challenging routes of rolling hills, undulating terrain finisher's medal and goodies, so what not to like? Nick finished in
1:41:51 and in 56th position , Rachel Malerick also took part but unfortunately had to pull out due to blisters.
CHELMSFORD 10k
Martin England and Jon Strutt took part in the Chelmsford 10k this is a looped race which takes you out into rural Chelmsford, Jon was first over the line in 49.59 followed by Martin in 52.20. Martin described the event as being “fresh!” clearly a race to blow the cobwebs away!
GREENWICH 10k
We have some excellent CPJ Ladies who regularly take part in the 10k distance with Greenwich being one of them
Tina Burton came in at 55:25
followed by Amanda Skeggs in 58:24 and Beverley Newman in 1:12:30
Jingle Jog
And finally the festive season got off to a great start for 3 of our ladies who just love dressing up! Michelle Frogley, Beverley Markham and of course Joanne Barton, character they took part as an elf, a reindeer, and a Santa! This is a fun run without a time and starts and finishes at Covent Garden. From there, the you Jingle Jog through the streets of the Capital and you'll be able to gaze at the famous lights of Carnaby Street, Regent Street, Trafalgar Square, Oxford Street, Kensington, Bond Street and many more places you may not be familiar with, competitors are put into groups with a run leader and taken on planned route through the heart of the capital listening (and singing) to classic festive hits!
