XC Winners

CPJ are riding high in this years cross country league now winning four out of four races with a fabulous ladies and mens team putting in some great effort this year, it has really been something to shout about, so far the club has tabled Weald, One tree Hill, Hadleigh Country Park and Thornton, with the final race set for Hadleigh on June 26th hosted by Leigh Striders. The course at Thorndon was very dry and somewhat bumpy with long grass in places and the tree routes were an added hazard with one of the men's team taking an unfortunate tumble, but everyone arrived safely back and plenty of tea and cake was available at the end.

Colchester Stampede

The Colchester Stampede also took place today with a unique opportunity to run a 10k or Half Marathon wich starts in the heart of Colchester Zoo, 8 CPJ's took part with Justin and Tina Burton both bagging themselves a PB on the course, Tina described the course as undulating but great fun as the ticket price included a visit to the Zoo!

CPJ in the Cotswolds

Over the Easter weekend CPJ members finally got away on a planned break which had been cancelled from two years previous due to the pandemic following on from a previous weekend to Cornwall and The New Forest. The weather was glorious and perfect for running around this beautiful part of the country, I had arranged to meet up with The Bourton Road Runners where we were staying and they took us out on two fantastic routes from the village both around 5 miles and taking in some breathtaking scenery, so we would like to thank Margaret Hollamby (CiRF) for arranging these routes and her club members for making us so welcome.

Also over the Easter weekend we saw the welcome return of the C2C Good Friday 5k hosted by

Pitsea running club with Terry Spooner on great form getting over the line in just 19:57 a sub 20 and bagging himself 6th place.
