What is a parkrun? After all everyone talks about them!

 

parkrun is a free, weekly, 5km timed run which take place all around the world. They are open to everyone, they are safe and easy to take part in.

These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and any ability is encouraged to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; all are welcomed, you can even volunteer to marshal.

There are two local parkruns that you maybe interested in, Basildon, which is   three laps around Northlands park with a large lake and site cafe, this is a great course for getting into parkruns.

Hadleigh is a much more challenging course and placed as one of the hardest in the country but a great course in beautiful surroundings taking advantage of the 2012 Olympic site, there are excellent facilities here toilets and The Hub Cafe
